Shri Samir Somaiya holds Master of Public Administration (2005) from Harvard University, and an MBA (1993), Master of Chemical Engineering (1992) and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (1990) from Cornell University.

Samir Somaiya is the Chairman and Managing Director of Godavari Biorefineries Limited and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Somaiya Vidyavihar and The Somaiya Trust. He was the President of the Indian Sugar Mills Association in 2009, and the Chairman- Western Region of the Indian Chemical Council in the years 2008-09. Furthermore he was a Committee Member of the Government of India - New Millennium Indian Technology Initiative for Polymers from Renewable Resources, and presently serves as a committee member of the Indian Sugar Export Corporation. He is a Visiting Instructor at the School of Chemical Engineering - Cornell University. He is also the Chairman of the Education Committee of the Indian Merchant’s Chamber for the year 2010-11. Member of the Committee for Education & Skill Development 2011-12 of Indian Merchants’ Chamber, Member of Agriculture & Food Processing Committee 2011-12 of Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Committee Member for CII National Committee on Sugar for the year 2011-12.

Born on 23rd Chemistry from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. After working as a college lecturer in Delhi for a year, he joined the Indian Administrative Service in the year 1965.

During his service of 37 years Shri Ranganathan held various positions in Government of India and Government of Maharashtra including Joint Secretary, Dept. of Atomic Energy, Additional Chief Secretary (Home Dept) and Municipal Commissioner, Mumbai. He retired on 30/9/2002 as Chief Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra.

After retiring from government service, Shri Ranganathan has been associated with various NGOs working in the educational and social sectors. He was Independent Director on the Board of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. from 2003 to 2008.

Shri V. Ranganathan is presently associated with the K. J. Somaiya Trust running a number of educational and community service institutions in Maharashtra and Karnataka. He is Chairman of Internal Audit Committee of National Association for the Blind, India, the largest NGO in the disability sector in India. He is a member on the Local Managing Committee of Nirmala Niketan, running an outstanding college of social work.

Shri Ranganathan is the Chairman of the High Level Monitoring Committee constituted by the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India for Matheran Eco Sensitive Zone. Till recently he was the Chairman of the Heritage Committee for Mahabaleshwar – Panchgani. Additionally he is the Convener of INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage) for Maharashtra State. He is presently Chairman of the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee.

Shri V. Ranganathan is also associated with ALERT India, working in the areas of Leprosy, T.B. and AIDS. He is Chairman of Sri Ranganatha Paduka Trust, a religious and cultural organization in Mumbai. He was Chairman of Indian Institute of Public Administration, Maharashtra Regional Branch and continues to be in its Executive Committee. Shri V. Ranganathan is also associated with the NGO, Clean Air Island, Mumbai.

Dr. Shubha Pandit is Principal of college from the year 2012.

Dr. Shubha Pandit started her career as a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering way back in 1985 when she joined Sardar Patel College of Engineering, Andheri. Subsequently she became the Professor and Head of Electrical Engineering Department and then the Vice Principal of the college till she left the college in April 2012. Currently she is the Principal of K J Somaiya College of Engineering Vidyavihar.

Dr. Shubha Pandit passed B. E. in Electrical Engineering from Pune University M. E. from Mumbai University and completed Ph. D. from IIT Bombay. She has co-authored a book on “Computational Methods in Large Sparse Power System Analysis” which is published by Kluwer Academic Publications, Norwell, U.S.A. Also, she is a professional Energy Auditor and undertakes Energy Audit assignments by which organizations can be helped in saving energy. She has delivered several guest lectures in many academic institutes as well as industries on Energy Efficiency.

Apoorv Ranjan Sharma leads the core team at VentureNursery as Executive Vice President. In his previous roles in other firms, he has established many incubators and, grown angel networks and has mentored over 100 start-ups on fund raising techniques, many of whom have gone on to secure angel and VC financing.

He recently exited Indian Angel Network (IAN) where he led Western Region Investments and Technology Incubator. IAN is the largest angel investment network in Asia with 180 Angel investors and looks to invest up to m. He was instrumental in establishing many new initiatives at IAN i.e. Small Deal Group for <50 Lakh Investments, Angel Network at Pune, Boot Camps, IAN Incubator and the IAN newsletter apart from setting new heights for Mumbai Chapter. During his stint, he was helped closed nine deals in FY 2012.

In the past, he has been responsible for establishing JSS Technology Business Incubator, JSS SEED Fund (First Government sponsored SEED Fund), Amity Capital Venture (Now m Education focused fund) and Amity Innovation Incubator. Some of ventures mentored by him include Venera Technology (World Leader in Analyser), Apnacircle.com (m merger with Viadeo), CircuitSutra Technology (Leader in System on Chip), Netika Solution (Biometric device venture employing largest number of deaf in India). He was also associated with Indian Venture Capital Association’s operation and research functions. He had spent close to a decade in IT Industry and has worked in an angel funded start-up in Europe.

He is a regular speaker on many prestigious fora related to angel investments and incubation and had been visiting faculty at top entrepreneurship institutes such as SP Jain and EDII. Sharma holds an engineering degree from HBTI Kanpur, an M.B.A from Asia Pacific Institute of Management, Delhi, and Diploma in Mentoring from HAAS Business School, Berkley, University of California. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Innovation Management from Amity University.
